Function documentation Trace Tool

Use

You use the Trace tool to trace your program. You use it to activate and deactivate different kinds of traces and to create a trace file, which you then analyze using other tools.

Note

To display the trace tool, open the New Tool dialog box and choose Trace.

Integration

The trace tool is integrated with the runtime analysis and performance analysis tools.

Features

The trace tool has the following trace options:

      ABAP Trace

Functionality of the runtime analysis.

      Performance Trace

Functionality of the runtime analysis.

      SQL Trace

Functionality of the performance analysis.

      DB Buffer Trace

Functionality of the performance analysis.

      RFC Trace

Functionality of the performance analysis.

      Enqueue Trace

Functionality of the performance analysis.

Indication

      If a trace is active, this is indicated by This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Trace Active.

      If a trace is inactive, this is indicated by This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Trace Inactive.

Trace Activation

      To start a trace, double-click This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Activate Trace.

Note

The ABAP Trace and Performance Trace cannot be simultaneously active.

      To deactivate a trace, double-click This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Deactivate Trace.

When you deactivate a trace, This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Trace File appears in column Trace File.

This means that a trace file has been created. If you double-click an entry, the relevant tool is displayed in a separate session.
