Procedure documentation Classifying Single Objects  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use this procedure to classify objects with a certain characteristic in the Classification Grid.

Procedure

...

       1.      In the Repository Browser (transaction SE80), navigate to the object you want to classify and in the context menu, choose Display Classification.

The Classification Browser starts and all characteristics relevant to the object (and present in your list of default characteristics) are displayed on the right.

Note

The list of default settings is part of your personal settings (Utilities Settings). Initially the list contains all characteristics under your responsibility and those classified as INITIAL_SET with respect to the characteristic CHARACTERISTIC_GROUP. For more information on how to set default characteristics, see Setting Default Characteristics.

       2.      Double-click on the icon of the characteristic to view its values.

The Classification Grid appears.

       3.      Choose the Display <-> Change pushbutton.

The Change Packages and Requests screen appears.

       4.      Specify a package and a transport request for the object. Only requests are accepted as valid entries, tasks are not.

Note

Only one user can classify an object at a time. That user has to be the owner of the transport request. If another user wants to classify the same object, he or she has to own the transport request.

       5.      Select the desired values for the characteristic.

Note

The Classification Browser can display the values of single-valued characteristics directly in the object list. If you want to have a characteristic displayed like this, you have to mark it as key characteristic in your personal settings by double-clicking on the icon in front of it.

Result

The object has been explicitly classified with the desired value of the characteristic.
