Use

You can create language-specific, translatable texts in some input fields in the object editor. The Description field is language-specific for all object types. Which other input fields are language-specific depends on the object type.

More information: Object Editor

Example

For example, in the Description column in the data type editor, the input fields for the individual elements of the data type are language-specific.

You can translate language-specific texts. If texts are available for an object in several languages, you can select the various languages by choosing Display Language.

Note

You can select the display language for object texts independently of the Logon Language. The logon language is the language in which the texts of the user interface of the ES Builder are displayed. You select the logon language when you log on.

You can define an original language for all objects of a software component version. When you create a new object, a default original language is set for editing language-specific texts of the object.

Note

In addition, you can also create substantial language-dependent texts in the HTML-Editor if this is et up with the object software component version.

Define Permitted Target Languages for Translation

...

       1.      Open the software component version for which you want to define the permitted target languages.

       2.      Under Object Attributes in the Permitted Target Languages for Translations field, select the permitted target languages from the input help. Use input help.

       3.      Save and activate the software component version.

Recommendation

In some cases you can display a language version in the translation editor, but you cannot edit it. This happens if an object version is in a language that is not (or no longer) permitted as a target language. This can happen, for example, if the translation for a particular language is realized by an external translation workflow. In the software component version, you can then exclude this language from the list of permitted target languages. This ensures that translations from the external translation workflow are not accidentally overwritten by manual translation.

Conversely, you can activate and deactivate permitted target languages at certain time intervals and in this way align them with your individual translation planning.

Change Display Language

Language-specific texts are initially displayed in the language that you have selected as the display language in the Personal Settings. If there is no language version for this language, the texts are displayed in the original language.

You can also select the display language separately if you have opened an object. To do this, select the display language from the corresponding dropdown list box in the header of the object editor.

You can select from the original language and all other languages that are defined as permitted target languages for translation.

Note

(OL) indicates the language set as the original language in the dropdown list box.
