Cross-Element Type Search 

Use

You can carry out a cross-element type search by records, documents, record models and file plans Records Management offers a special service provider for the cross-element type search.

In Customizing, you can define which element types can be searched by, and which element types are to be search attributes. For more information on Customizing, see Service Provider for Cross-Element Type Searches.

Prerequisites

Either you have created your own element type in the service provider for the cross-element type search, or you are using the one delivered by SAP.

Activities

       1.      In the Role-Based View area, open Cross-Element Type Search, select an element type and choose Display.

A search dialog for the general search is displayed. This is divided into two parts.

On the left, you can see all element types that can be searched by. Using the checkboxes, you can choose which element types the search should actually be performed by.

On the right, you can see the search attributes that you can valuate for the search.

       2.      Choose Start Search.

The hits are displayed in the lower part of the window. By double-clicking on an element, you can display it.

Special Functions

By choosing Search Variants, you can save your search criteria in the search screen and start the same search again at any time.

By choosing List Location, you can save the hit list and display it again at any time.
