Function documentation Filtering Messages  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use this function to define specific filter criteria that messages must meet if they are to be displayed in message monitoring.

Defined selection filters can be saved and reused. Saved filters can also be deleted.

Note

You can use selection filters that you have defined and saved for messages from a particular data source for this specific data source only.

Prerequisites

You have started the Runtime Workbench, are in message monitoring, and have displayed the messages of the required component.

Activities

Depending on the selected data source and component, you can define the following criteria for filtering messages:

Filter Criteria

Criterion

Description

Processing time

(not relevant for archived messages in the Adapter Engine)

In these fields, you enter the following values:

Time Period: Input help with specified time periods

From (Date): Required start date

From (Time): Required start time

To (Date): Required end date

To (Time): Required end time

Status

(not relevant for archived messages)

Dropdown list box containing all possible message statuses. The system only displays messages with the selected status.

Search Text

(only relevant for search using index)

Search term for payload search

You can only search using terms from the main payload, in particular tag names (with or without angle brackets) and tag attributes. An advanced search syntax with operators such as AND, OR, and NOT is not supported.

A generic search using an asterisk (*) is possible. Avoid using special characters that are typically used as separators.

Note

You cannot use terms from the message header (for example, the message ID). Selection criteria are available for this purpose.

Search Method

(only relevant for search using index)

To search for

All terms (all entered search terms must occur)

At least one term (at least one of the search terms must occur)

Phrase (all search terms must occur in the same order as in the search text)

Sender, Receiver, and Interface

In these fields, you enter values for the following filter criteria from the message header:

party, component, interface, interface namespace

Input help is available. You can restrict the displayed values as follows: For example, if you enter A, only those values that begin with the letter A are displayed; if you enter AB, only those values that begin with AB are displayed, and so on.

You can show or hide additional filter criteria, for example, the message ID, and use them as well.

If you want to use the specified filter criteria to display your messages, choose Start. The filter is activated.

The filter is automatically activated when you choose Referencing Messages or Referenced Message.

More information: Displaying and Managing Messages

If you want to deactivate an active filter, choose Reset. This resets the default settings of the filter (current date, current time minus one hour, status All).
