After you create design objects in the ES Repository, you can:

  • Transport the objects to another ES Repository. For example, from the development landscape to the consolidation landscape.

  • Transfer objects from other software component version to the new software component version. This helps to reuse the design objects.

Procedure

  1. To ship the design objects from one ES Repository to the other, you can select from the following three means of transports:

    • File System-based transport

    • Change Management Service (CMS)

    • Change and Transport System (CTS)

  2. When developing a new version of a software component version, you normally transfer the design objects from older software component versions to the new software component version.

    More information: Transferring Design Objects

  3. During transfer of design objects, if an object is modified in the original software component version, for example, then it triggers a version conflict. In such a case, you should resolve conflicts.

  4. When developing new versions of software component versions, check if it is compatible with the previous versions.
