Procedure documentationViewing the Communication Ports Locate this document in the navigation structure

The installed SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java (AS Java) has a preconfigured set of communication ports that are used both for internal and external communication. If some of these ports are already in use by other processes running on your machine, you may need to change the ports of the conflicting processes. If this is not possible, you may change some of the AS Java ports. If you have trouble connecting to a server, check if the requested port is active and bound to the requested network interface.

Procedure

  • Proceed as follows to view the communication ports:

    1. In the SAP MC, choose a system from the SAP system tree structure.

    2. Locate the Access Points node. The information in the result view depends on the type of the chosen instance.

    3. For each port, you can view the process that uses that port, the communication protocol, the host to which it is bound, and whether the port is currently open.

  • Proceed as follows to change the communication ports:

We recommend that you do not change any of the default communication ports unless there are other processes on your machine that use the same communication ports and you are not able to change these.

    Note Note

We recommend that you do not change any of the default communication ports unless there are other processes on your machine that use the same communication ports and you are not able to change these.

    End of the note.
