Client/Server Technology (BC-CST)

A process that distributes server requests across any number of application servers.

Load balancing ensures that an Internet page remains available, even with a large number of users and a high load. It recognizes when a server is down within seconds and ensures that that server is not reused until the system becomes available again.

• In the SAP system, load balancing is performed by the message server when users log on.
• In the case of HTTP requests made to the SAP Web Application Server, the SAP Web Dispatcher performs load balancing.
