Adapters Running in the Advanced Adapter Engine 

Many adapters can be deployed in the central Advanced Adapter Engine and in non-central Advanced Adapter Engines.

Advanced Adapter Engines always forward incoming requests to the Integration Server by using an internal HTTP connection and service user PIAFUSER (parameter com.sap.aii.adapterframework.serviceuser.* of the exchange profile) for execution.

Outgoing XI messages are always forwarded to the Advanced Adapter Engine by using an internal HTTP connection and service user PIISUSER (parameter com.sap.aii.integrationserver.serviceuser.* of the exchange profile) for execution.

We recommend that you secure these connections by HTTPS as described under HTTP and SSL.
