Background documentation Working with the DBA Planning Calendar

Use

The following explains how to use the DBA Planning Calendar to perform basic database administration tasks. It provides information about:

·        Scheduling actions

·        Changing scheduled actions

      Executing actions

      Deleting scheduled actions

Displaying the status of a day’s actions

      Displaying scheduled actions

      Troubleshooting scheduled actions

Displaying the volume (tape names) of scheduled backups

Scheduling database and transactions log backups

      Scheduling database consistency checks

Caution

Make sure that you schedule your backups in an SAP system from one application only. If you schedule backups from multiple applications, for example, the Planning Calendar from the local system, the Planning Calendar from a central system, the SQL Server Management Studio or third party backup tools, these backups break the backup sequence of the system. Therefore initially plan the backup procedure and application from which the backups jobs are scheduled on your SAP system.
