Software Life Cycle Management (SLM) encompasses the administration of SAP products and solutions in real customer-specific system landscapes. Software Life Cycle Management contains the following tools and processes:

System Landscape Directory (SLD)

System Landscape Directory is the central information repository for your system landscape. It contains information about all installable and installed components in a system landscape.

Implementation

You can set up a new landscape or add a scenario to your system landscape and reuse existing system and components for it. The central document for implementation is the Master Guide. This document contains links to all documents that you need for implementation. You can find the Master Guide in SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/instguides.

System Copy and Migration

To set up your landscape or to create consistent duplicates for test or development purposes, you can copy SAP systems, both in ABAP and in Java. Software Logistics

Software Logistics standardizes and automates the distribution of software in system landscapes.

Software Maintenance

By importing the latest Support Packages and corrections, you can ensure that your installed systems are always up to date.

Release Upgrade

You can perform upgrades for your IT and business scenarios. The central document for upgrades is the Upgrade Master Guide.
