Background documentation GRMG Monitoring of SAP NetWeaver Components  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

The following list contains information about configuring the GRMG monitoring of the listed SAP NetWeaver components:

Setting Up GRMG Monitoring of the Business Warehouse

Setting Up GRMG Monitoring of the Exchange Infrastructure

Setting Up GRMG Monitoring of the ICM

You can configure the GRMG monitoring of Java-based SAP NetWeaver components using the Configuration Wizard in the NetWeaver Administrator (NWA). The following configuration tasks are available to you when you do so:

Configure Central NWA for GRMG monitoring of Java components in the central monitoring system

Add Monitored System to the Central NWA for the GRMG monitoring of Java components in systems that are centrally monitored by the NWA

You can activate GRMG monitoring of the following functional entities using these configuration tasks:

      AS Java

      Process Monitoring Infrastructure

      Adobe Document Services

      Business Communication Broker

      Portal Infrastructure

      Web Dynpro

If you are using the central monitoring system (CEN) as a purely ABAP system, the Configuration Wizard in CEN is not available to you.  You can, however, monitor the available of the listed components with GRMG by uploading the corresponding GRMG customizing files to CEN, entering the required information (such as host and port) for the components there, and starting the scenarios:

...

       1.      Call up the Internet address http://service.sap.com/monitoring, and choose Download Area GRMG Customizing files in the navigation bar. Templates for the GRMG customizing files for the above components are available to you here.

       2.      Download the desired template by right-clicking This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

       3.      Use a suitable XML editor to edit the downloaded file. You need to change the values of different tags, depending on the monitored component. These tags are indicated in the template with square brackets ([]). These are usually:

<scenstarturl>, in which you usually need to enter the host and port of the monitored component

<scendesc>, in which you usually need to enter the system ID and host of the monitored component

       4.      In CEN, call transaction GRMG, choose the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Upload button, and specify the file that you have just downloaded.

       5.      Select the scenario that you have just uploaded and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Edit GRMG Customizing.

       6.      For the monitored component Portal Infrastructure, you still need to edit the scenario after you have uploaded the file. Proceed as described in Setting Up GRMG Monitoring of the Portal Infrastructure.

       7.      To start the availability monitoring, select the corresponding row, and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Start.

Checking the Entries (Optional)

       8.      After you have started the scenario, you can find out from the Scenario Execution Status, whether the scenario was correctly executed. After the scenario has been executed, there should be a green check mark (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text) here. Possible problems are described in Troubleshooting GRMG Scenario Execution.

       9.      To view the availability data for the monitored components, call transaction RZ20 in CEN, and start the Availability and Performance Overview monitor in the SAP CCMS Monitor Templates monitor set. Expand the GRMG-Tested Availability (Web Components) subtree. The availability of your monitored components is displayed in this tree.
