This section provides you with an overview of when, where, and how to start and stop the Adapter Engine (Java SE) and its adapters.

      If you decide to stop the Adapter Engine, do so after you have performed steps 1 to 8 of the stop procedure for your PI system.

      If you want to start the Adapter Engine, do so after you have performed steps 1 to 3 of the start procedure for your PI system.

Description

Adapter Engine (Java SE)

Starting:

In the installation directory of the Adapter Engine, execute run_adapter.bat (Windows) or run_adapter.cmd (Unix).

Stopping:

Choose Shutdown Adapter Engine in the main menu at http://<Adapter Engine host>:<Adapter Engine port>.

This must be performed from a browser running on the <Adapter Engine host>.

When you start the Adapter Engine (Java SE), it registers itself in the System Landscape Directory (SLD).

Adapters running within the Adapter Engine (Java SE)

Starting:

Select the adapter in question under Available Adapters at http://<Adapter Engine host>:<Adapter Engine port> and then choose Start.

Stopping:

Select the adapter in question under Available Adapters at http://<Adapter Engine host>:<Adapter Engine port> and then choose Stop.

When an adapter is started, it registers itself in the SLD.
