Procedure documentation Assigning a Communication Channel  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

When you configure a connection, you can assign a communication channel and have collaboration agreements calculated for each activated sender/receiver relation.

Note that in certain cases it is not necessary to define a sender agreement. For more information, see Sender Agreement.

You do not need to assign a communication channel for an integration process component.

Note

Note that the model configurator only creates collaboration agreements for sender/receiver relations that have been assigned a sender or receiver channel. If you do not assign a sender channel to a relation, for example, this means that no sender agreement is created for this relation.

Prerequisites

You have called the Configure Connection dialog and have activated at least one sender/receiver relation.

Procedure

You can assign a communication channel to a sender/receiver relation in different ways.

Assigning a Communication Channel Using Input Help

You can select a communication channel from the list of existing communication channels. To do so, call the input help for the Communication Channel column.

The input help first displays existing collaboration agreements or direct connections for the sender/receiver relation. If a matching collaboration agreement or direct connections exist, then the list of possible values only contains the communication channel that is assigned to this collaboration agreement or direct connections. If no matching collaboration agreement or direct connections exist, the input help displays all communication channels that are assigned to the communication component.

Creating a Communication Channel with a Communication Channel Template

You can create a communication channel on the basis of a communication channel template. To do so, in the Communication Channelcolumn, call the context menu and choose Create Communication Channel  (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text) Create Communication Channel with Template (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text).

Using the wizard, you select a communication channel template from the Integration Repository and then create a communication channel based on it.

If the connection has already been assigned a communication channel template, the system proposes it as the template.

Creating a Communication Channel with a Copy Template

You can create a new communication channel on the basis of an existing communication channel. The communication channel is then used as a copy template.

To do so, in the Communication Channel column, call the context menu and choose Create Communication Channel  (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text) Create Communication Channel as Copy (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text).

Evaluating Existing Collaboration Agreements

You can have the system identify any existing collaboration agreements for each active sender/receiver relation. When a collaboration agreement is found, its communication channel is automatically assigned to the connection. Those sender/receiver relations that do not have matching collaboration agreements must be assigned communication channels manually.

To do so, in the Communication Channel column, call the context menu and choose Evaluate Agreements (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text).

Automatic Creation of Communication Channels

You can have the system create communication channels automatically for each business system component assigned to the connection. The communication channels are created using the data for the business systems in the System Landscape Directory.

To do so, on the Connections from Communication Component Assignment tab page, choose Create Communication Channels Automatically (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text).
