Configuration of Authentication and Single Sign-On Mechanisms 

Available authentication and SSO mechanisms include:

·        User ID and password

·        Logon tickets

·        Authentication assertion tickets

·        X.509 client certificates

·        Assertions using the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML)

·        Header variables

·        Secure Network Communications (SNC)

·        Kerberos

The availability of these mechanisms depend on the type of server (AS ABAP, AS Java, or Portal) and the type of access used, for example, SAP GUI, Web-based, Web services, or interaction between systems.
