Use this scenario variant to administer your SAP NetWeaver system landscape. For effective administration with as low a TCO as possible, we recommend that you use central tools from which you can access your entire system landscape (see also the general introduction to Administering SAP NetWeaver).

The scenario variant differentiates between typical administrative tasks such as starting and stopping, and tasks in the context of process automation (scheduling):

Use the SAP NetWeaver Administrator as the central tool for administering your system landscape. This should be set up on a system with the installable units AS ABAP, AS Java, and EP as a central administration and monitoring system. You also require a System Landscape Directory (SLD).

A Configuration Wizard is available to you to configure the central NWA (see Wizard-Based Configuration of the NWA).

For detailed information about setting up the central monitoring and administration system, see the Monitoring Setup Guide – SAP NetWeaver 2007 at the Internet address service.sap.com/OperationsNW2007. From here, choose the current SAP NetWeaver release and the area Monitoring.

With SAP Central Job Scheduling by Redwood, you can perform process automation centrally for an entire system landscape. This includes both the definition and scheduling and the monitoring of jobs. Install SAP Central Job Scheduling by Redwood as a standalone Engine on the central administration and monitoring system.

For detailed information about setting up SAP Central Job Scheduling by Redwood, see service.sap.com/job-scheduling.
