Function documentation Where-Used List  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

A where-used list enables you to determine who is using specific objects, and thereby make the dependencies between the objects clear.

Features

The Enterprise Services Repository has object dependencies for one or more levels: An object can use another object either directly or indirectly using the intermediate level of another object. The objects that can be used directly or indirectly depend on the type of object used.

More information: Object References

Example

A message type contains a direct data type. A service interface indirectly contains a data type (by means of an intermediate message type).

The where-used list is predefined so that only the direct users of an object are displayed. To display other (indirect) users, deselect the Direct Users Only checkbox.

Activities

You can call the where-used list as follows:

Select the object in the navigation area and in the main menu bar choose Object  Where-Used List (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text)

Select the object in the navigation area, call the context menu, and choose Where-Used List (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text)

Open the object and in the main menu bar of the object editor choose <Object> Where-Used List (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text).

The where-used list containing the users of the selected or open object is displayed.

To display the users of a different object, in the Where-Used List For field, first select the object type from the dropdown list box and then use input help to select the required object. The where-used list for this object is then displayed.
