This graphic is explained in the accompanying text How do objects behave in objects?  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Whenever you overlap objects that can be linked by connections based on the current method, the create relationship dialog box opens, regardless of whether a relationship already exists between the two objects. The relationships that exist as connections between the objects are indicated by an enabled check box.

You can specify that

new relationships are to be created.

existing connections become implicit connections and are therefore not displayed.

existing connections continue to be displayed.

If you clear these check boxes, the relationships still exist, but as implicit connections. This means that the connection occurrence is no longer displayed graphically when the Create relationship dialog box is closed.

If you move an object that contains other objects, these are also moved.

If you drag an object from an object to which it has implicit connections into the free modeling area, the relationships between them are represented as connections.
