OCR (optical character recognition) fonts are machine-readable fonts widely used in financial documents. The OCR-A character set, for example, is used for printing routing information on checks.

Hardware/Software Requirements

To print OCR character sets, a printer requires either special built-in character sets or additional hardware or software. Some printers cannot print OCR characters at all. Be sure to check that this feature is available before you purchase a printer.

Testing OCR Printing
