You can use the monitoring architecture of the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) to monitor a system landscape centrally. The purpose of the monitoring architecture concept is to make all required information available in one central monitoring system.

Problems are displayed in the alert monitor in the central system as soon as they occur. Moreover, all log files are accessible from a central location, thus reducing the time required to identify and remedy errors. Additional configuration steps allow advanced technologies such as automatic notifications, meaning that administrators no longer need to actively investigate systems for alerts.

CCMS is based on the Application Server ABAP (AS ABAP) usage type. For more information about the administration of central CCMS Monitoring, see Monitoring.

For monitoring purposes, all other systems have their own monitoring tree in the central CCMS Monitoring System, where their data is displayed. Some of these systems also have their own monitoring tools.

For information about the CCMS connection to the AS Java as part of SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment and the availability of special monitoring tools, see Monitoring.
