If data has been archived with SAP data archiving, you can access this data again. You need the following tools for archive access:

  • Archive Information System

The archive information system (transaction SARI) enables you to configure your own archive information structures (archive indexes), fill them with data from the archive, and search for archived data. If you want to access the archived data at a later time, you must set up a corresponding infostructure. You can do this either automatically during the delete phase, or manually afterwards.

For more information, see Archive Information System.

  • Document Relationship Browser

The Document Relationship Browser (DRB) displays business objects and the links between them. These are usually documents that have been created as the result of a common business case or they belong to a common process. The DRB can display archived data and data that is still in the database.

In SAP Web Application Server IDocs and work items are connected to the DRB. For more information, see DRB in SAP NetWeaver Components.

  • Archive File Browser

The Archive File Browser (transaction AS_AFB) provides functions for displaying the contents of archive files. It offers a technical view of the archived tables in much the same way as the Data Browser (transaction SE16) does for data from the database. The Archive File Browser is aimed at data archiving administrators and anyone who needs to investigate problems with data archiving and in archived data. It is not a tool for end users.

For more information, see Archive File Browser.
