Background documentation System Message  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

A system message allows you to send important information to client devices. For example, you want to send information about the date and time of server maintenance to client devices. In this case, you can create a system message and send it to the required devices.

When you create a system message, you can specify the criteria based on which the message must be sent to the required devices. If you do not specify any criteria, then the message is sent to all the devices. This criteria is defined using device attributes. For example, you want to send a message to all the devices in Germany. In this case, when creating the system message, you can provide the value Germany to the device attribute Country.

The system messages that you create are stored in the consolidated data store. The system messages are transferred to client devices when the devices connect to the DOE to synchronize data.

Note

A system message is sent to a device and not to specific users of a device. Therefore, when you send a system message to a device, all the users of that device can view the message.

A system message is unidirectional and can be sent only from the DOE to the client.
