Object documentation City  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Definition

Town or community according to the postal divisions. It can, but does not have to, correspond to the political-administrative divisions.

Use

If the address check against the postal regional structure is activated, the system checks whether the city specified in the address entry exists.

Data such as the region and transport zone, as well as application-specific and customer-specific data, can be stored for the city. This data can be accessed in programs for data objects that have an address.

The City object can be accessed in the following transactions:

or by choosing SAP Web Application Server Basis Services Address Management Regional Structure/City file Cities in the SAP Reference IMG (transaction SPRO).

Structure

The key of a city contains the country as well as the city number. The keys are then still unique even if the cities are created for different countries by importing data carriers with external number assignment. The city name and short names are maintained language-specifically.

An important field for the city is the "Street Directory". (Indicator: A street directory exists for this city). Streets are only checked in the address check for this city if this indicator is selected. The indicator is selected by default.

There are three "subobjects" for a city: Postal codes, Districts, and P.O. Boxes.
