Patch Strategy for SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1 

SAP provides the mobile-related patches between support package stacks (SPS). Patches are provided for the following components:

·        SAP NetWeaver Application Server

The patches are available in the form of SAP Notes. The composite note for a particular support package provides information about these SAP Notes.

●      Mobile client

You must download patches for the mobile client from the SAP Service Marketplace (Software Download Center).

SAP NetWeaver Application Server (Data Orchestration Engine)

SAP NetWeaver Mobile releases patches for the application server in the form of SAP Notes. For each support package stack, there is a composite note that provides central access to the latest corrections.

Mobile client

With every patch release, two types of patches delivered:

·        Full patch:  This contains an up-to-date record of all the changes.

To upgrade between patches that belong to different SPS, you must apply the full patch on the mobile client.

·        Delta patch: This contains only the changes from a particular SPS release.

To upgrade between patches that belong to the same SPS, you must apply this patch. This patch is a cumulative patch, which means it contains all the changes from a particular SPS release.

To help understand the use of the two patches, the following example is provided.

If your mobile client is on SPS 02 Patch 2, and:

SPS 02 Patch 5	Delta patch of SPS 02 Patch 5
