The usage counter shows you how often a proposal in the proposal pool has been used as a translation in the objects that currently need to be translated in the system.

Displaying Usage Counters

If you display additional information for a proposal, a dialog box appears in which the usage counter is displayed. See Displaying Details for a Proposal.

The number of source texts for which a specific proposal has been used as the translation indicates how many modified lines would be generated if you were to delete or change the proposal. For more information about the status modified, see Translation Status.

Note Note

The usage counter is five digits long. If a proposal has been used more than 99,999 times, the system displays 99999 as the usage counter.

End of the note.
Updating Usage Counters

To update the usage counter, proceed as follows:

  1. Access transaction SE38.

  2. Enter report RS_TRANSLATION_GET_USAGECNT in the Program field, and choose Execute.

  3. Make the following settings on the USAGECNT screen:

    • Use the input help for the S_LANG field to select the source language for the usage counter refresh.

    • Use the input help for the T_LANG field to select the target language.

    • Use the input help for the OBJLIST field to select the object list that contains the objects for the usage counter refresh. For more information on object lists, see Object Lists.

  4. Do not change the value X in the Batch field, and choose Execute.

The system updates the usage counters in a background job.

Note Note

Updating the usage counters is performance-intensive. We therefore recommend that you only perform this function when an evaluation is not running.

End of the note.
