Background documentation Integration Framework  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

To enable SAP mobile component deployment using SMS Server 2003, the Integration Framework (IF) was created. Since an SAP mobile component is not capable of installing itself, you need an intermediary component. The Integration Framework does this by acting as an intermediary between the SMS system and the mobile client. Organizations that have SMS in place can use the deployment tools offered by the SMS system and take advantage of the benefits provided by the mobile client. The following components are part of the integration framework:

·        IFSetup – Refers to the entry point for the installation of the integration framework. It is responsible for the installation of the integration framework on a client device. the system starts this component only when you install the integration framework.

Smart Package Installation (SPI) – Serves as the entry point for mobile component installation or uninstallation. SPI initiates SAP mobile component installation or uninstallation after a third-party Device Management System has deployed a mobile component to a client device successfully. The Administrator starts the SPI every time an SAP mobile component is deployed using a third-party Device Management System.

DMConnector – Refers to the integration framework piece that is specific to a Device Management System. Upon execution of the IFSetup component, the system looks up for a DMConnector component on the current directory to obtain Device-Management-specific information.

The following graphic explains the usage of the integration framework.
