SAP integration with a third-party Device Management (DM) system can benefit organizations that want to leverage their investment in an existing DM system resulting in a lower total cost of ownership. Organizations with an existing DM tool can use the existing functionality provided by those tools for deploying SAP mobile components.

The Integration Framework enables SAP integration with a third-party DM system. Since an SAP mobile component does not install itself, an intermediary component is required. The Integration Framework acts as an intermediary between a DM system and mobile client. Organizations with an existing DM system can use the deployment tools offered by the DM system and take advantage of the benefits provided by the mobile client.

SAP third-party DM system integration is separated in different levels. The first level, L01, is available with this release.

L01 refers to a minimum type of integration in which only the Integration Framework is provided to enable SAP mobile component deployment by an external DM system. L01 allows you to use any DM system for deploying SAP mobile components.

The following graphic provides information regarding the Integration Framework’s role in the deployment scenario.
