Background documentation Hierarchy Group  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

You can represent your organization hierarchy by using a hierarchy group. This ensures easy administration of your mobile system landscape. A hierarchy group is a tree structure that consists of nodes at the different levels. For each node in the hierarchy group, you can perform the following operations:

·        Add a child node

·        Assign device profiles

·        Assign mobile components

·        Assign DM software component versions

·        Assign devices

·        Move nodes within the hierarchy

·        Rename the node

·        Set the required permissions on the node to allow access to other administrators

Types of Hierarchy Groups

Hierarchy groups can be classified into the following:

Freestyle

You need to manually create this group. This group is similar to the hierarchy grouping in SAP Mobile Infrastructure (SAP MI). However, the following enhancements have been made to the hierarchy group in the Data Orchestration Engine (DOE):

·        You can assign users and devices to any node in the hierarchy group whereas in SAP MI devices cannot be assigned directly to a node and users can be assigned only to child nodes.

·        The users and devices assigned to a parent node in the hierarchy group are also assigned to the child nodes.

·        Device profiles assigned to a parent node in the hierarchy group are also assigned to the child nodes. However, you can remove the device profiles that the child node inherits from the parent node and assign other device profiles (if required).

Generated

In this case, hierarchy groups are created automatically by downloading information about the hierarchy groups from the back-end system using the Hierarchy Generation data object.
