Overview of the GWM Outlook 2010 or 2013 Add-In wizard.

The wizard allows you to create and configure a template to interface with the OData service you want, in the connected SAP Gateway system.

It consists of the following pages:

  • Select Template

The first page in the wizard is the Select Template page. In this first page, you specify the Microsoft Outlook item you want as a template.

You can create add-in templates for the following Microsoft Outlook items:

    • Contacts
    • Appointments
    • Tasks
Note The number of pages in the wizard differs depending on the Microsoft Outlook item you choose as a template.
A default template name is provided, and it appears at the top of the wizard page. You can change the name.
  • Select Service:

The second page in the wizard is the Select Service page.

In this page, you select the system type and specify the OData service you want to bind to the template. The following are the two ways to specify a service:

    • In Service URL, provide the URL address of the OData service, and choose GO. The wizard opens the Authentication Required window in which you provide your login credentials to the selected system.
    • Alternatively, choose Browse and provide the connection settings and your login credentials in the Browse Services window.
      1. Choose Connect after you have provided your login credentials to the selected system type, and choose Select Service when you find the service you want.
      2. You can search for the service you want using the asterisk "*" character as part of the name.
      3. To close and exit the Service Explorer window, choose Cancel.

This page is applicable to each Microsoft Outlook template you choose.

  • Select Collection:

The third page in the wizard is the Select Collection page.

In this page, you specify the collection in the selected OData service you want to use.

    It has two panes:

    • Service Collection:

The Service Collections pane opens to display the list of collections in the selected service. Select the collection you want from the list.

    • Properties:

Displays the list of properties in the selected collection. It indicates whether various functionality such as, the Create, Update, and Delete capabilities are supported in the collection.

The icons with the checked mark indicate that the Create, Update, and Delete capabilities are supported in the selected collection.

    Note

This page is not applicable when you are creating a template for the Microsoft Outlook item, Tasks.

  • Map Properties:

The fourth page in the wizard is the Map Properties page.

In this page, you define the mapping between the properties in the service, and the properties in the Microsoft Outlook item.

There are several ways to map the properties, including the following:

    • Select a property in the SAP Properties list, and then drag and drop it into the matching property field in the Outlook Properties pane.
    • Alternatively, in the specific property field in the Outlook Properties pane, enter the name of the property as it appears in the SAP Properties list.

The mapped SAP property name displays in gray color in the SAP Properties list.

You can remove an SAP property from an Outlook property field by selecting it, and then dragging and dropping it outside of its current location. The affected SAP property is enabled again in the SAP Properties list, and available for mapping.

To map SAP Properties to a property field (Outlook Properties) that has a combo box (selection), first select the desired Outlook property field from the combo box, and then drag and drop the relevant property (from the SAP Properties pane) into the selected Outlook property field.

    Note

This page is presented as the Defined Settings page if you select the Microsoft Outlook item, Tasks.

  • Additional Properties

The last page in the wizard is the Additional Properties page.

In this page, you specify the configuration settings for presenting and viewing data in Outlook.

In the Set Additional Properties pane, optionally provide a name for a custom tab in the Custom tab field.

By default, the Custom Tab and the <Navigation Property name> check boxes are selected. When selected, the wizard creates a tab control that will contain the list of properties you want to make available to Microsoft Outlook users of the add-in. This list will allow users to customize the add-in by adding and removing additional properties.

Optionally, select the check box in the Select Associated Information Tab pane, to define the navigation relationship you want to provide in the Association tab.
Note If there are no associations in the OData service selected, no options will show under Navigation Property.

Optionally, you can enable the following:

    • Select the Enable User to Create New Items check box, and specify a name for the button you want the wizard to create. Users can add items using the button.
    • Select Create in New Folder to create a new project folder for the add-in.
    Note

This page is not applicable if you select the Microsoft Outlook item, Task .

Follow sequentially, the steps in the wizard pages to configure the template to interface with the OData service you want, in the connected SAP Gateway system.

You can create more than one template for use in a single add-in.

Navigating the Wizard Pages

The wizard presents icons and buttons in all pages. Use these to perform the following activities:

  • Cancel button:

The Cancel button is always enabled in all pages. However, in the last page of the wizard, the button displays the name, Cancel project.

When you choose the Cancel button, and you have existing templates in the project, a popup window displays asking you to confirm your action by selecting one of the following:

    • Cancel current template: Closes the wizard, and does not save changes to the project. However, it does not exit the project, which is still available for editing the existing templates.
    • Cancel the project: Closes the wizard and exits the project without saving any changes.
  • Next button:

The Next button is enabled in all the pages except the Project Summary page.

  • Back button:

The Back button is enabled from the second page of the wizard. You can navigate from page to page to edit your entries.
