GWM Missing in the New Project Window of Visual Studio
Context
Symptom:
When GWM Visual Studio Add-In is installed on a machine by one of the users of that
machine, other users cannot access GWM in the
New Project window under the Visual
C# node, as it does not exist.
Solution:
Procedure
Close all instances of Visual Studio.
Go to the Start menu, choose
Run, type cmd, and click
OK.
At the command line (Start Run, enter CMD with the option Run
as administrator), go to the directory that contains
devenv.exe, and execute the command, devenv
/installvstemplates.
Alternatively, right click the program in Start menu All Programs Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Visual Studio ToolsVS2012 x64 Cross Tools Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator, from the
Cross Tools Command Prompt, execute the command,
devenv /installvstemplates.
Note You can perform the
procedure in the different versions of Visual Studio such as, 2010, 2012, or
2013.
Open Visual Studio and check if the issue is
resolved.
In some cases, GWM is still not listed.
If this
happens, do the following in addition to the above steps:
Go to the
Start menu, choose Control Panel Programs Uninstall programs GWM Visual Studio Add-In and choose Repair.
