GWM Visual Studio Add-In is for developers working in Microsoft Visual Studio environment to quickly create application-level solutions for Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel users to retrieve, and edit data from SAP systems.

The GWM Visual Studio Add-In environment includes the SAP Gateway system, and your existing SAP system landscape, as shown. Other systems such as SMP and Azure interact with SAP Gateway through proxy to enable access to SAP OData services.

Installing GWM Visual Studio Add-In Components

Prerequisites

Before you install GWM Visual Studio Add-In, make sure that you have the following:

Operating Systems

You can install GWM Visual Studio Add-In in the following 32 bit or 64 bit operating systems:
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Server 2008 Standard
  • Windows Server 2008 Enterprise
Note The GWM Visual Studio Add-In is not supported on Windows Server 2012

Supported Microsoft Visual Studio Editions (Professional, Premium, Ultimate and Community)

GWM Visual Studio Add-In supports the following editions of Microsoft Visual Studio:

  • Visual Studio 2010 (.NET Framework 4.0)
  • Visual Studio 2010 (.NET Framework 4.5)
  • Visual Studio 2012 (.NET Framework 4.5)
  • Visual Studio 2013 (.NET Framework 4.5)

To use the solutions generated with GWM Visual Studio Add-In projects, you need Microsoft Office 2010 or 2013 Professional Edition:

To use the GWM Visual Studio Add-In, you must maintain logon credentials to connect to the SAP Gateway system.
