Using the Compare Systems functionality, you can compare a certain system's configuration to another. It enables you to compare system configuration settings such as software components, development components, application, system data, services, instance data, and so on.

For example, you can compare your production and test environment systems to detect configuration changes between them.

You can compare the stored system state or XML files consisting information of the system configuration.

You can also generate a URL file to start the application for system comparison.

Prerequisites

You have started Compare Systems from   SAP NetWeaver Administrator   Problem Management   Java   Compare Systems  .

You can also use the quick link: http://<host>:<port>/nwa/cs

Procedure

You choose the Compare tab to start the system comparison.

Displaying System Differences
  1. From the Type dropdown list in System 1 and System 2 screen areas, choose Local System, Remote System, Upload File, or Stored State depending on the type of data you want to compare.

  2. Choose Display Differences from the Comparison Criteria screen area.

  3. Change the settings and filters you want to display and choose Go to start the comparison procedure.

  4. In the Components screen area, you can view the differences between the compared systems components and their attributes.

Displaying System Similarities
  1. From the Type dropdown list in System 1 and System 2 screen areas, choose Local System, Remote System, Upload File, or Stored State depending on the type of data you want to compare.

  2. Choose Display Similarities from the Comparison Criteria screen area.

  3. Change the settings and filters you want to display and choose Go to start the comparison procedure.

  4. In the Components screen area, you can view the similarities between the compared system components and their attributes.

You can download locally the generated information by choosing Download Report under the System Compare tab.

Managing Data
  1. By choosing the Manage Data tab you can:

    • Store the result from the system comparison.

    • Generate an XML file with the data from the system comparison.

    • Generate a URL file with the result from the system comparison.

  2. To view the stored information about the system comparison, choose Download XMLin the Stored System Data screen area.

  3. To display locally stored data in the table within the Stored System Data screen area, choose Upload XML File.

  4. To delete a record with stored system data, choose Delete.
