The Java System Properties tool enables you to view and edit online the current system configuration of the AS Java. This includes default property data and custom property data.

You can perform the following tasks:

  • view and edit properties of kernel and service modules

  • view properties of Java applications

  • view and edit JVM parameters on a particular instance.

  • view filters and shared tables (shared memory)

These tasks are valid for all server processes within an instance.

Procedure

  1. Open the SAP NetWeaver Administrator.

  2. Choose   Configuration Management   Infrastructure   Java System Properties  .

  3. From the Templates pane, choose the template or an instance, depending on the level you want to view/configure properties.

    We recommend that you make your configurations on an instance level.

  4. Depending on the configuration you want to make, choose from the following subprocedures.

Viewing and Editing Properties for Managers and Services
  1. Choose Kernel / Services.

  2. Select a manager or a service.

    Within the Extended Details pane, all the properties and their corresponding values are listed. The custom value has priority over the default one.

  3. To view more information about the property, choose Show Details.

  4. To configure a property, select the relevant one and then choose Modify.

  5. Enter a custom value and choose Set.

  6. To save the change, choose Save.

    If you are on an instance level and configure a property not selected as Online Modifiable, a Confirmation Dialog window appears, asking you to restart the AS Java.

  7. If you want to restore the property's value, choose Restore to Default.

Viewing Properties of an Application
  1. Choose the Applications tab.

  2. Select an application.

  3. If the application has any properties, choose the Show Details button to view the complete information.

Viewing and Editing JVM Parameters of an Instance
  1. Depending on the type of JVM properties you want to see, you have the following options:

    • VM Environment

    • Memory VM Parameters

    • System VM Parameters

    • Additional VM Parameters

  2. To only view the parameter's details, choose Show Details.

  3. To change a VM parameter, select the relevant one, and then choose Modify.

  4. To save the change, choose Save.

    If you are on an instance level and configure a VM property not selected as Online Modifiable, a Confirmation Dialog window appears, asking you to restart the AS Java.

Viewing Filters and Shared Tables
  1. Choose Filters / Shared Tables.

  2. You can only view parameters and their features.
