Use this log perspective to view logs and traces on your SAP NetWeaver system. These logs records are commonly addressed to system administrators and customers.

Procedure

  1. Open SAP NetWeaver Administrator.

  2. Go to    Problem Management   Logs and Traces   Log Viewer  .

  3. From Show View dropdown box, choose General and then choose from the following views:

    Predefined View

    Description

    SAP Logs (Java)

    Shows list formatted log records from all log files (except for defaultTrace.trc) on the relevant system.

    Last 24 Hours (Java)

    Shows all the log records, from the last 24 hours on the relevant system.

    The following filter by content is set: Date & Time-Relative equals last 24 hours.

    Alert (Java)

    Shows list formatted log records from all log files (except for defaultTrace.trc ) with severity ERROR and FATAL, on the relevant system.

    The following filter by content is set: Severity is greater than or equal to error.

    Default Trace (Java)

    Shows all trace records written in defaultTrace.trc file.

    Text Formatted Traces (Java)

    Shows all text formatted log records on the relevant system. Text formatted logs are not merged in a table.

    Expert

    Allows you to view user defined set of log records. These logs correspond to traces of the Startup Framework. They give information about behaving of the AS Java at startup.

    Caution Caution

    These logs are mainly for internal usage by SAP developers and support. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you do not configure them.

    Sys Logs (ABAP)

    Shows all log records written in the ABAP Sys Log set of files.

    Note Note

    You can set filters by content only.

    Log Archives (Java)

    Allows you to view archives of log records, both list and text formatted on the relevant system.

    The default directory where archives of logs are stored is: usr\sap\<SID>\JC<Instance number>\j2ee\cluster\ <server>\log\archive.

    In the archive folder there is a sub-folder temp where the logs and traces of each archive are extracted. After you leave the Log Archives (Java) view, the logs and traces are not deleted from the temp directory.

    Change Log

    Shows logs giving information about all configuration changes manually made in the AS Java. This logs are stored in a separated log file directory <SAP _install_dir>\<system_name>\<instance_name>\j2ee\cluster\change\log.

    External Log Files

    Shows all external logs uploaded by SAP NetWeaver users.

  4. From Display Log File, you can find all the files containing logs for the selected general view.

    This dropdown box is relevant only for text-formatted logs/traces.

  5. Choose Show Advanced Filter to set a filter criterion.

    You can apply various types of filtering log records for these views.
