In any predefined or custom view, you can download all log and trace records, specified to a comma separated value (CSV) formatted file. For example, you can view log/trace records in a human-readable format on a remote SAP NetWeaver system.

The records are only extracted first. Then, you can download them to a CSV formatted file and save it to the file system.

When extracting log files, If the maximum size is exceeded, you can download the extracted records. Then, you can continue with the extraction of the next portion of log records.

Procedure

Choose   SAP NetWeaver Administrator   Problem Management   Logs and Traces   Log Viewer  .

Downloading Content
  1. Open the view whose logs you want to extract and download.

  2. Choose   Log Files   Download Content  .

  3. From the dialog box, choose which columns to be visible and then choose Download.

    A counter is processing the number of log records currently extracted.

    Note Note

    The limitary number of log records is 60 000.

  4. Download the current log records extraction (estimated in bytes) and then choose Continue.

    If you do not want to download the current log extraction, directly choose Continue.

  5. Save the file on your file system.

Reading the Downloaded Content
  1. Open the file using a spreadsheet application.

  2. Select column A.

  3. From the Data menu, choose Text to Columns.

  4. In the Convert Text to Columns Wizard - Step 1 of 3 dialog box, select the Delimited indicator and choose Next.

  5. In the Convert Text to Columns Wizard - Step 2 of 3 dialog box, select the following indicators: Tab, Comma, and Treat consecutive delimiters as one.

  6. From the Text qualifier dropdown box, select double quotation marks (") and then choose Next.

  7. In the Convert Text to Columns Wizard - Step 3 of 3 dialog box, select the General indicator and choose Finish.

Downloading Log Files
  1. Open the view whose logs you want to extract and download.

  2. Choose   Log Files   Download Files  .

  3. Select the files you need and choose Download.

  4. Save the file on your file system.

  5. Optional: You can then open a log file from your file system or choosing   Log Files   Open External Files  .
