To perform the standard backup and restore process for SAP NetWeaver, the SAP system must be stopped.

Note Note

The backup and the restore run of the ABAP databases and the TREX indexes must be carried out simultaneously. During the backup, no indexing or configuration changes are permitted.

Procedure

You can use the following methods:

  • TREX backup and recovery

    Technical configuration data for TREX is stored in the directory /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/TRX<instance_no>/<trex_hostname> as configuration files in the format *.ini.

    The TREX configuration data that is displayed in transaction RZ20 for CCMS and GRMG is stored as XML files in the directory /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/TRX<instance_no>/trace/grmg with file names in the following format: GRMG_config.<SAPSID>_<INSTANCE>.<host_name>.xml.

    You must take these files into account during the backup and restore process.

  • MaxDB database and log backup

    SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search uses modified ABAP tables and SLG1 logs.

    You must take these table entries into account during the backup and restore process.
