Managing Search Categories
You can group together different search object connectors to search categories. Search categories allow users to narrow down their search by searching, for example, only in the "Business Partners" category. You can assign both search object connector models and search object connectors to specific search categories. By default, a search object connector inherits the categories from its model.
SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search already contains various predefined search categories.
You can create more search categories and delete search categories in the template modeler when creating search object connector models and in the administration cockpit
Launch the administration cockpit.
In the Details area, choose the Categories tab.
Choose Manage Categories.
Choose Create Category/Relation.
Scroll to the end of the list and enter a name for the new category, then press Enter.
Note
In customer systems, this name must start with a Y or a Z.
You can build a hierarchy by grouping categories below another category. The individual subcategories are called relations.
Launch the administration cockpit.
Choose the search object connector that you want to assign to a category.
In the Details area, choose the Categories tab.
Select the relevant category from the list and choose Add.
Note
Note that new category assignments are not passed on to the respective search object connector model.
Launch the administration cockpit.
Choose the search object connector that you want to remove from a category assignment.
In the Details area, choose the Categories tab.
Select the category to be removed from the list and choose Remove.
Note
Note that this category is removed only from the search object connector, not from the respective search object connector model.
Launch the administration cockpit.
In the Details area, choose the Categories tab.
Choose Manage Categories.
Select a category or relation and choose Delete Category or Delete Relation.
