Search Object Connector Models

You can use search object connector models to quickly and easily connect search providers to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search. They are used to create search object connectors of a specific type. You can find a list of the different types in the next section.

In the modeler, you can display the details of the search object connector models that are delivered with SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.

Properties Defined in Search Object Connector Models

Search object connector models are used to define the following elements:

Search object type
The object type searched for in the connected back-end system, for example an R/3 business object or a file.
The business object node structure (BO search object connector only)
Search technology
The type of the connected system. To take into account the different search providers that can be connected to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search uses the following types of search object connector models:
- SAP BO Search
- SAP BO Search Service
- SAP BW/BI Search
- SAP KM Search
- File Search
- OpenSearch
- Data Provider Services
Search query attributes and response attributes
- Attributes that are to be used as search criteria (request attributes)
- Attributes that are to be taken into account in the search results (response attributes)
Additional parameters
- Roles and authorizations
- Navigation targets
- Assigning the attributes returned to the display of elements
- URL generation parameter assignments
- Related actions that can be accessed through the results list
Search categories
Search object connectors are assigned to logical search categories. The results found by a search object connector are displayed on the user interface according to the search categories defined by the user. The assignment to a search category is also defined in the search object connector.

SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search contains the following search categories:
- Products
- Files
- Reports
- Sales Orders
- Accounts
- Services
