
During the initial configuration of SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, you set up the connection to a central user administration system of one of the following types (see Configuring User Management):
We recommend regularly replicating the ABAP users to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search from the SAP ERP back-end system that is configured as the central user administration (CUA) in your system landscape.
Alternatively, you can connect SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search to an LDAP server containing all the users who should be able to use the search function.
The data is replicated in the AS ABAP of SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search using the LDAP synchronization function.
Note
The use of LDAP is mandatory for secure file searching.
In this case, familiarize yourself with the following special administration task: Managing the User Cache and Group Cache for the File Search.
SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search uses the standard AS ABAP mechanisms for user administration and authentication.
Users who want to use the search or manage SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search must be assigned the correspondiong authorization in the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search system and in the back-end systems.
