To connect an SAP ERP 6.0 system (ERP 2005) to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, you must create search object connectors for all business object types that you want to include in your search. You can do this quickly and easily by using the SAP BO Search templates delivered with SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.

Note Note

If you have other requirements that are not covered by the models in SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, you can also create your own search object connector models or change existing models.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

You have prepared the SAP ERP 6.0 system as described in Preparing an SAP ERP 6.0 System (ERP 2005) for Enterprise Search.

Procedure

  1. Launch the administration cockpit.

  2. Choose Create.

  3. Choose the SAP BO Search Variants search object connector type and choose the associated software component.

  4. Choose Next.

  5. Choose the corresponding back-end system from the list.

If you have not yet defined the connectivity data for the back-end system, work through the following step before continuing: Connecting Back-End Systems.

  6. Choose Next.

  7. Activate the UI technologies that you want to use (SAP GUI is activated by default). For more information, see Maintaining UI Technologies.

  8. Choose Next.

  10. Choose Next.

A list of the search object connectors you created appears on the confirmation screen.

  11. Choose Finish.

Result

The new search object connector is displayed in the administration cockpit below the type SAP BO Search Service. As soon as the search object connector is active, users receive search results from the connected SAP ERP 6.0 system on the Search UI.
