Introducing SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search

This documentation provides an overview of SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, its architecture, and the general concepts. It lists the naming conventions used in the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search documentation and the available configuration and administration tools.

This information is relevant for everyone who is responsible for setting up SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, for connecting the systems, for the availability of the objects for searching, or for the operation of the system.

These notes contain important information that was only available after publication of the documentation. Read these notes before you start working on procedures described in the guides listed below.

Administration Guide

In this area of the documentation, you have access to all information that is relevant for administrators of SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search:

  • Configuration Guide

    This documentation is the starting point for the configuration of SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search. It contains detailed information about administration.

  • Technical Operations Manual

    This guide contains descriptions of the tasks required to run SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, including administration and troubleshooting.

  • Security Guide

    This documentation contains descriptions of the security aspects that are relevant when running SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.

Developer's Guide

This documentation describes the development of new search object connector models and the creation of search object connectors to make further business objects available for searching.

You can also find information about the OpenSearch and data provider services that SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search supports and that allow you to develop custom services and applications.

Getting Started – Using the Search

This guide contains descriptions for using the Search UI and the associated features.

Appendix

The appendix contains topics that the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search documentation references.

It includes special topics from the current Search and Classification (TREX) and SAP NetWeaver documentation, which are required for the configuration of SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search but not to use it.

Some of these included topics reference other topics that are not required for SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, therefore some of the links in the appendix do not work.
