Procedure documentation Triggering Events from SAPGUI

Use

You can trigger an event from SAPGUI when, for example, you want to test the behavior of the event or of the jobs waiting for that event.

You can trigger events in two ways:

      Simple trigger

The event is raised only in the local system. You can call a simple trigger from within two locations:

From the event history (transaction SM62) which contains the events that were already raised in the system.

From the list of locally defined events (transaction SM64).

      Extended trigger

The event can be raised in the local system, in another system, or by using sapevt.

Procedure

Triggering an Event in the Local System

       1.      If you want to raise an event that was already raised, start Event History (transaction SM62).

If you want to raise an event, start Background Events (transaction SM64).

       2.      Choose the event you want to raise.

       3.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Trigger.

       4.      On the Trigger an Event screen, enter an event argument if necessary, and choose a target server.

       5.      Choose Trigger.

The event appears at the bottom of the list in the event history.

Using the Extended Trigger

       1.      Start Background Events (transaction SM64).

       2.      Choose the event you want to trigger, and then choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Extended Trigger.

       3.      On the Triggering of an Event screen, depending on the way in which you want to trigger the event (on the local system, on another system, or by using sapevt), choose the corresponding tab.

       4.      Provide the necessary information, and then choose Trigger.
