Reorganizing Event History

Use

To prevent event history from growing too big, you can configure the system to delete (reorganize) log entries that are older than a particular number of days. Entries are deleted by a predefined standard job.

You can set a different number of days for entries in status New and in status Confirmed. For more information about event status, see Event Status.

The reorganization settings are stored in reorganization profiles which can be active and inactive. The system reorganizes EH as per the settings of the active profile. You can have many profiles but only one of them can be active.

SAP delivers a predefined profile SAP Default.

Procedure

       1.      Create a reorganization profile.

If a reorganization profile already exists, you can either edit it, or create a profile. To edit the existing profile, skip this step and proceed with step 2 below.

                            a.      Start Event History (transaction SM62).

                            b.      On the Reorganization tab page, choose  with the quick info text Add.

                            c.      Enter a name of the profile, and then choose  with the quick info text Create (Enter).

       2.      Configure the reorganization profile.

                            a.      In the Reorg. Profiles list, choose a profile by double clicking it.

                            b.      Choose  with the quick info text Change.

                            c.      Enter the number of days for entries in status New and Confirmed.

                            d.      Choose  with the quick info text Create (Enter).

       3.      Activate the profile.

                            a.      In the Reorg. Profiles list, choose a profile.

                            b.      Choose  with the quick info text Activate.

The traffic lights for the profile become green.
