Content usage mode: remote role assignment, remote delta link

Applies to: producers, consumers

Note Note

The functionality described in this topic is not available in an SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment system.

End of the note.

A consumer portal must be registered with a producer portal to be able to consume and run content exposed by the remote producer.

When you perform the registration, note the following:

  • If the remote system is running the same SAP NetWeaver release as your system, then a two-way registration is performed. In other words, each system in the FPN connection is registered as a consumer of the other system.

  • If the remote system is running a lower SAP NetWeaver release, then only a one-way registration of your system as a consumer of the remote system (producer) is performed.

The FPN Connection wizard provides an option to automatically register the systems, which are paired in an FPN connection, immediately after the FPN connection has been created. This topic is only relevant if you have not yet registered the systems. To view the current registration status of an FPN connection, go to the Manage My FPN Connections tool. For more information, see Viewing FPN Connections.

Prerequisites

  • You are authorized to access the portal role containing the Federated Portal workset.

  • You have created an FPN connection that pairs your system with a remote system.

  • The HTTP/HTTPS connection settings are entered correctly in the FPN connection.

    Recommendation Recommendation

We recommend that you check the connection with the remote using the FPN Connection Tests tool before you perform the registration. For more information, see Testing FPN Connections.

    End of the recommendation.
  • You have at least administrator read-write permission for the FPN connection. For more information, see Assigning Administrator Permissions to FPN Connections.

Procedure

  1. In the portal, navigate to   System Administration   Federated Portal   SAP NetWeaver - FPN Connections   Manage My FPN Connections  .

The My FPN Connections tab appears.

  2. In the My FPN Connections table, select an FPN connection.

  3. Choose   Connection   Register  .

    Note Note

You may be required to enter additional properties if the remote system requires them, such as a registration password.

    End of the note.

The registration status of the FPN connection is updated accordingly in the Registration Status column in the My FPN Connections table.
