You can use the Update Site Mirroring wizard to create a mirror of an update site on a local machine. With the wizard you can make a mirror of a given version of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio or combine features from different versions (for example, different Service Packages), according to the needs of the users.

You can grant access to the mirror for users who need these updates, but do not have access to the SAP Service Marketplace.

Having a mirror of an update site in your local network can also increase the speed of the updates of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.

With the Update Site Mirroring wizard you can create new mirrors or change the mirrored features of already existing mirrors.

Prerequisites

  • You have the URL of the update site for which you want to create a mirror.

  • If the mirror must be centrally accessible, you must install an HTTP server to host the mirror site.

Procedure

In the Developer Studio, start the Update Site Mirroring wizard, by following the path   Help   Manage Local Update Sites  .

Step 1: Update Site Selection
  1. Enter the source update site URL. This is the site for which you want to create a mirror.

By default the URL field is filled in automatically with the address, provided in the Developer Studio Update policy.

  2. Enter the path to the directory where to store the mirrored features.

  3. Enter the URL of the target site.

The target URL can use the following protocols:

    • HTTP — if the mirror is published using an HTTP server. For example, http://server/updatesite.

    • The file protocol — if the mirror is published using a file share. For example, file:///server/updatesite.

    Note Note

The target URL can be set only once when you are creating a new update site mirror. If you want to change the mirrored features of an already existing mirror, you enter the path to the target directory and the corresponding target URL is filled in automatically.

    End of the note.
  4. Choose Next.

Step 2: Feature/Category Selection
  1. Select the features you want to mirror from the Source Site tree viewer.

  2. Choose the Add to Target Site button.

The features appear in the Target Site tree viewer.

  3. If you want to remove a certain feature, select it in the Target Site tree viewer and choose the Remove from Target Site button.

    Note Note

If there are features that must be added because of dependencies, a warning is displayed and the Select Required button becomes active. In this case you must choose the Select Required button and then choose the Add to Target Site button.

    End of the note.
  4. If you want to reset all changes, choose the Reset Target Site button.

  5. When you are done selecting the features for the mirror site, choose Next.

Step 3: Summary
  1. Review the changes that you made in the previous steps.

  2. Choose Finish to confirm the changes and start the mirroring process.

Result

If the mirroring process finishes without errors, the wizard closes automatically and no further information is displayed. This indicates that the mirroring process is successful and you can start using the mirror.

You can use the URL of the mirror site for installation and update of the Developer Studio.
