Maintaining Aliases of FPN Connections
Content usage mode: remote role assignment, remote delta link Applies to: consumers
The functionality described in this topic is not available in an SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment system. End of the note. |
Every FPN connection is identified by a unique producer alias. The alias is used to identify the producer system of an FPN connection in various user interfaces in the portal, such as the Identity Management tool. The alias is also used to map remote delta link objects created on the consumer to their corresponding source objects on the relevant producer.
When you create an FPN connection, the portal automatically generates a primary alias for the FPN connection based on the FPN connection ID that you enter. If the alias is already used by another FPN connection or portal system, then an underscore is added to the suffix of the initial alias until a unique one has been formed.
Note
You cannot remove or rename the primary alias.
You can create additional aliases for each FPN connection and remove them, if needed. Typically, you should only have to create additional aliases when instructed to do so in the documentation or by an SAP support person.
Most user interfaces in the portal show only the primary alias of an FPN connection; any additional aliases are not listed even though they may exist.
This topic describes how to view and manage the aliases assigned to an FPN connection.
You are authorized to access the portal role containing the Federated Portal workset.
You have created an FPN connection that pairs your system with a remote system.
To view aliases, you have at least administrator read-write permission for the FPN connection. To add or remove aliases, you have at least administrator read permission for the FPN connection. For more information, see Assigning Administrator Permissions to FPN Connections.
In the portal, navigate to .
The My FPN Connections tab appears.
In the My FPN Connections table, select an FPN connection.
Choose Open.
In the open editor of the FPN connection, choose FPN Connection Aliases.
The FPN Connection Aliases editor appears. The defined aliases of the FPN connection are listed in the editor.
To add an alias, enter the name in the Alias Name field, and then choose Add. The new alias is listed in the Defined Aliases table.
To delete an alias, select the alias in the Defined Aliases table, and then choose Remove.
Save your changes.
