The following procedures show you how to import or export an existing product (that is, a composite application) using the Composite Designer perspective. You can then review the content of the imported composite application and develop additional functionality on top of it, if required.

You can review the development objects for each layer by choosing from three different levels of detail. This allows you to minimize the development objects for a certain layer in case you have to work with multiple ones located on another layer. The outlook of how the layer development objects are displayed can be selected from the upper-right corner of the corresponding layer.

Or you can define from the Composite Designer menu bar centrally how to development objects for the product are displayed altogether. You can select between three possible options:

  • Collapse all layers

  • Level 1

  • Level 2

You can centrally configure whether you want to display all the existing relations for a selected development object. You can set this using the Show relations button in the Composite Designer menu bar.

Procedure

Importing Existing Composite Applications

Note Note

When importing a product to visualize its content in the Composite Designer, you need to have at least one software component of the type Product Description Software Component. This software component type is also used when you organize the development of more than one product (composite application) in a single development configuration. For more information, see Defining Products in a Single Development Configuration.

Additionally, if you try to import one and the same product twice, you receive a notification that the second product will overwrite the first one.

End of the note.
  1. From the context menu of the Composite Explorer view, choose Import Product.
