Procedure documentationCopying and Pasting Objects in the Process Model Locate this document in the navigation structure

When you model your process, you may want to copy a single flow object, artifact, or a group of flow objects, and use them elsewhere in the process model or in another process model. You can also copy a whole pool together with its content. You can copy and paste objects between processes created in the same project. For more information about projects and processes, see Projects and Processes in the Process Composer.

The copied object is configured the same way as the original one. For example a copied human activity has the same task assigned as the original human activity, a copied data object has the same data type assigned as the original data object, and so on. Task attributes which are defined on human activity level are also preserved.

Prerequisites

You have modeled a process with some objects inside, for example events, activities, artifacts, and so on and have opened the process model.

Procedure

Copying and Pasting a Single Object
  1. Select the object you want to copy.

  2. In the context menu of the object, choose Copy.

  3. In the context menu of the modeling surface of the same or another process model, choose Paste.

The copied object appears in the process model.

Note Note

You can follow the same procedure to copy a whole process model if it is modeled in a pool that is different from the default pool. To do that, select the pool containing the process and in the context menu of the pool, choose Copy.

End of the note.
Copying and Pasting Groups of Objects

You use this procedure when you want to copy several objects in the process and the connections between the objects. You can also use this procedure to copy a whole process model which is modeled in the default pool. For more information about pools, see Defining Process Participants Using Pools.

  1. Choose Marquee from Palette.

  2. Hold the primary mouse button and drag the selection box to include all the objects in the process model you want to copy.

  3. In the context menu of one of the selected objects, choose Copy.

  4. In the context menu of the modeling surface of the same or another process model, choose Paste.

The group of copied objects appears in the process model.

Note Note

If the objects you want to copy are far from each other, you have to select them one by one. To do that, choose Select from Palette, press and hold the CTRL key and select the necessary objects.

End of the note.
