Procedure documentationAssigning Administrator Permissions to WSRP Producer Objects Locate this document in the navigation structure

Content usage mode: WSRP application sharing

Applies to: consumers

Note Note

The functionality described in this topic is not available in an SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment system.

End of the note.

Portal administrators on the consumer can perform various tasks that are related with their remote WSRP-based producers, based on the administrator permissions for their user that are assigned to the WSRP producer object.

This topic describes how to assign administrator permissions to WSRP producer objects, and how they affect the various tasks performed by portal administrators.

Note Note

  • This topic describes how to change permissions using the Manage My WSRP Producers tool. Alternatively, you can modify permissions of WSRP producer objects directly in the Permissions editor in the portal. For more information, see <link to Using the Permissions Editor>.

  • Instead of assigning permissions directly to WSRP producer objects, you can assign permissions to the WSRP Content Producers folder in the Portal Catalog. Any WSRP producer object will then inherit the permissions of this folder, unless you manually modify the permissions of the object itself.

  • In addition to the permissions described in this topic, the system administrator on the consumer also needs to assign end-user permissions to WSRP producer objects to enable content to run at runtime. End-user permission is typically assigned at later stage after the remote content has been created on the consumer and assigned to its business users; see <link to Assigning End-User Permission to FPN Content>.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

  • You are authorized to access the portal role containing the Permissions workset or the Federated Portal workset.

  • You have created a connection to a WSRP producer.

  • To modify the permissions of a WSRP producer object, you have administrator owner permission for the object, which is located in the WSRP Content Producers folder in the Portal Catalog.

    Note Note

If you do not have this authorization, a system administrator can assign your user with the required permission level to either the WSRP Content Producers folder in the Portal Catalog or directly to the corresponding WSRP producer semantic object located in this folder.

    End of the note.

Procedure

  1. In the portal, navigate to   System Administration   Federated Portal   Non-SAP - WSRP Connections   Manage My WSRP Producers  .

  2. In the Portal Catalog, browse to the WSRP Content Producers folder and locate the WSRP producer object that you want to assign permissions to.

  3. In the context menu of the WSRP producer object, choose   Open   Permissions  .

The Permissions editor appears. The users, groups, and roles and their respective permissions that are assigned to the WSRP producer object are listed.

  4. Add or remove the users, groups, or roles of administrators, as needed.

  5. To each user, group, or role, assign the relevant permission in the Administrator column.

The following table describes which administrative tasks can be performed on the local portal for each permission setting:

    (1) Administrator permissions set to WSRP producer objects do not restrict an administrator's ability to view and edit local content created on the consumer from proxy-to-portlet iViews. Additional permissions must be applied to the remote-based content on the consumer by the system administrator or content administrator.

    (2) Required to view and choose the remote WSRP producer in the iView Wizard. For information on all the required permissions that must be assigned to remote iViews on a SAP NetWeaver producer portal to support WSRP application sharing mode, see <need to update link to XML topic>Exposing iViews on the Producer for 'WSRP Application Sharing' U.
