Content usage mode: WSRP application sharing

Applies to: consumers

Note Note

The functionality described in this topic is not available in an SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment system.

End of the note.

You use the System Connection Tests tool to check connectivity to the systems defined in the portal. A test, named Producer Connection, enables you to check if your portal can connect as a consumer to a producer portal you have added.

In detail, the following checks are performed:

  1. Checks if a valid producer object is available on your portal.

  2. Opens a connection to the handshake URL of the producer and checks if it can receive the designated WSDL file.

  3. Parses the WSDL file and checks if it can extract the ServiceDescription and Markup port definitions in the WSDL file necessary for a WSRP-based connection.

We recommend that you test the connection to a producer before you register it in the Producer Registration Editor.

Prerequisites

  • You have access to the federated portal administration tools in the standard System Admin role on your portal.

  • You have added the producer to your portal (see Creating WSRP Connections to Producers).

  • You have been assigned at least administrator read-write permission to the producer object.

Note Note

The producer may inherit the permission assigned to its parent folder in the Portal Catalog. For example, NetWeaver Content Producers or WSRP Content Producers.

End of the note.

Procedure

  1. Launch the System Connection Tests tool:

    • If you are currently editing the producer object in the Producer Editor or another secondary editor, choose Connection Tests in the object editor toolbar.

    • If you are not editing producer object, then do the following:

      1. In the consumer portal, navigate to   System Administration   Federated Portal   Myself as Content Consumer   Manage My Producers  .

      2. In the Portal Catalog, navigate to the producer object for which you want to test a connection.

      3. Right-click the producer object and choose   Open   Connection Tests   in the context menu. The System Connection Tests tool is displayed.

  2. In the System Connection Tests table, choose the Producer Connection test.

  3. Click Test.

Result

The details of the test and the results are displayed on the screen.

If a connection test does not succeed, we recommend you check the following:

  • There are no problems with your portal, your network, or the producer portal.

  • The WSDL file is located in the folder published by the producer (relevant to non-SAP producers only).

  • The WSDL file contains the mandatory WSRP information (relevant to non-SAP producers only).

  • The proxy service is running and configured correctly (see Configuring Proxy Settings).
